Congratulations, Robert & Katie!

My best friend in the whole wide world - Kelley - has a super awesome sister Katie and brother-in-law Robert.  Katie and Robert are expecting an addition to their family in April and today was their baby shower.  I begged to make a cake for them because I love them and I love the theme!  They are expecting a boy and are really into hot rods.  This cake isn't your typical baby shower cake, but it seemed to fit with the theme.

The top tier is a lemon cake with butter cream frosting.  The middle tier is a yellow cake with vanilla frosting.  The bottom tier is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.  :)

I tried to make a stroller out of fondant but I was having some issues - so it ended up just being flames, jester blue diamonds, and a checkered flag design with the baby's initials on top.

Here are some photos:

Hope it tasted good and that they liked it!
Congratulations to Robert and Katie!

Kyle's Birthday Cake!

Lindsay came over today and helped me (meaning she did most of the work :) ) on Kyle's birthday cake.  I baked a funfetti cake with red and black sprinkles.  The plan was to make a dragon cake...
So, we made a black cauldron made out of the cake and a dragon made out of rice krispy treats.  We had some fondant coins and jewels to add a few touches.  We added dry ice to the cauldron to make it smoke... :)

Thanks Lindsay for all the help... you are the best!

Happy Valentine's Day!

In honor of Valentine's Day, I made funfetti cupcakes with pink vanilla frosting.  I used fondant to cut out red and pink hearts.  Unfortunately, I didn't let the hearts harden before I put them on the cupcakes so they molded to the frosting - but it doesn't look too bad!

Here are some photos:

Happy Valentine's Day!  :)

....... BATMAN!

Kyle has a co-worker who will be celebrating his birthday this week - and he is obsessed with Batman.  Kyle requested that I make a Batman cake for him.

This was something quick that I put together - nothing is homemade.  Yellow cake with vanilla frosting.

However, the Batman insignia was a little time consuming.  This cake is supposed to be the light that the flashes the Batman sign - although Kyle claims it looks like a utility belt around the bottom... WHATEVER!  :)

Here are some photos... I love how with fondant you can make ANYTHING!!  :)

Valentine's cupcakes tomorrow!

Thanks for looking!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Well, I ran out of time to make the cupcakes I had hoped - so this was a quick fix.

Yellow cupcakes dyed bright yellow with green funfetti.  Homemade buttercream frosting, with yellow and green sprinkles.

You can tell who I'm rooting for.  :)
